In early November the planters will be replaced with winter plantings consisting of low growing evergreen shrub, evergreen boughs and decorative red twig branching.

We are creating a special walking map to highlight the businesses on Clark, and we will again be printing a list of the event participants with a coupon package. The festivities will also include roaming carolers, Santa Claus and the lighting of Clark by the Park community tree at dusk (4:30 p.m.). We will also collect hats, mittens, etc. for a local charity as part of this event.

Clark Street Special Service Area (SSA) #23 will be hosting Clarktoberfest to celebrate the finalization of the three-year Clark ‘streetscape’ improvement project. Clarktoberfest will take place on Saturday, October 14, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Sunday, October 15, from Noon to 5:00 p.m., on Clark between Diversey and Armitage.

“We owe special thanks to the City of Chicago for funding and implementing the Clark ‘streetscape’ project,” said Clark Street SSA Chairman Doug Schuberth of Schuberth Real Estate. “Improvements including wider sidewalks, and new street lamps and landscaping, not only make this area a more pleasant place to work and live, but are sure to attract more visitors to our vibrant neighborhood.”

Clarktoberfest will kick off on Saturday at 10:00 a.m. on the patio at Ranalli’s on Clark (2301 N. Clark) with an unveiling ceremony, during which the Clark Street SSA will officially make public the new Clark by the Park logo. The Clarktoberfest festivities also include sidewalk sales, live music, food samples and other giveaways, such as Clark by the Park-branded tee-shirts and dog treats, walking maps, and coupons.

“Clarktoberfest will be a wonderful community event, and will demonstrate the revitalized energy and beauty of Clark now that the ‘streetscape’ improvements are complete,”said Mr. Schuberth.

Clarktoberfest also marks the beginning of a marketing campaign aimed at reducing storefront vacancies and alerting Chicago residents to the variety of shopping and dining opportunities available on Clark Street. During the next few months, the Clark Street SSA will roll out this logo on street pole banners, in advertisements and on promotional items for Clarktoberfest. During the next year, the logo will be used in a larger marketing campaign aimed at reducing storefront vacancies and informing Chicago residents of the variety of shopping and dining opportunities available on Clark Street.
